Galaxy: Owned Strategy for NPD (Boomerang)
New product launches are usually treated as a moment. A burst of activity around a launch date, then a return to business as usual. For Galaxy's NPD, the brief was to break that pattern: build a strategy where the new products weren't just introduced and then left to fade from the feed, but were woven into an always-on owned channel presence that could keep working long after an experiential launch week.
That launch week took the form of the UK's tiniest bakery, a miniature installation in London sized to match the new bars, where baker and TV personality Kim-Joy served up free samples of the two new flavours, Millionaire Crumble and Cinnamon Swirl, to commuters on their way home. It was a nice physical expression of the idea the strategy was built around: small, everyday moments of indulgence, the kind Galaxy's own research found nearly half of working Brits treat as their only guaranteed pocket of uninterrupted time in the day.
Rather than building a launch campaign with a shelf life, the strategy started from the owned channel itself. What Galaxy's feed needs to look like week to week, launch or no launch, and treated the NPD as content that earns its place within that rhythm rather than one that interrupts it. This meant thinking in terms of content pillars and recurring formats the channel could sustain indefinitely, not a one-off asset drop.
The final creative route was built with channel-specific slides showing how it would actually look and behave across Galaxy's different platforms, rather than a one-size-fits-all deck.
My strategy included creative thought-starters specifically for owned channels, ideas designed to live and breathe on Galaxy's own platforms rather than depend on paid media to be seen, so the presence of Millionaire Crumble and Cinnamon Swirl has longevity across social rather than a launch-week spike.
